Since founding in 1924 of Kaivalyadhama Yoga and Naturopathy Centre – Lonavala, Pune, Maharashtra, the number of patients seeking the advantages of yogic therapy increased to the point of justifying a full- fledged yogic hospital. This is the first ever hospital of its kind in India where yogic treatment is given under complete medical supervision and results assessed on scientific lines with the help of a research laboratory. The aim now is to provide people with an efficient system of health management through yogic practices, Ayurvedic cleansing and Naturopathy treatments.
The health centre at Kaivalyadhama Yoga and Naturopathy Centre, Lonavala(Pune), Mumbai – Pune Highway, Maharashtra. has about 70 rooms and hosts over 3000 people every year. People come for weekly packages consisting of Yoga and Relaxation Centre, panchakarma and Ayurvedic Therapy Centre and Naturopathy Therapy Centre and Massage therapy. The accommodations are spread across the campus, with simple clean rooms, attached toilets, air-conditioning and a vegetarian diet.
Kaivalyadhama was started in a bungalow rented by Prabha Shankar Patni, the then Dewan of Bhavnagar, at Lonavla.
Swami Kuvalayananda laid its foundation in 1924.
Kaivalyadhama Yoga and Naturopathy Center teach and follow the Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali, the yogic seer of the eighth century.
The campus is now spread over 170 acres of parkland, with a college, a health centre, asana halls, Ayurveda and Naturopathy facilities, and philosophical and scientific research departments.
